Our Health Care System is in Crisis.

Albertans urgently need more family doctors and acute care specialists to provide comprehensive, timely healthcare they deserve.

Evidence shows that access to primary care leads to timely care, better chronic condition management, and fewer emergency visits, ultimately saving money for the healthcare system. Unfortunately, Alberta is falling behind other provinces in attracting and retaining doctors. Family and rural doctors have proposed solutions to save clinics and make Alberta a desirable place for medical professionals. The government’s recent $92 million federal funding is crucial for supporting practices until a new payment model is implemented.

In acute care, a perfect storm of factors is driving doctors out of hospitals, severely impacting Albertans' access to timely and safe care. Many face unacceptable delays in emergency services, surgeries, and specialist access, jeopardizing community health. Rapid access to acute care is essential; we must act quickly on doctors' proposals to enhance services and prevent further strain on our healthcare system.

Join us in securing a robust and responsive health care system for Alberta, where everyone has access to the care they need.
